Created the winning design for the development of the Neighbourhood IIII Co-Housing Design competition (Located at http://www.donaldshaw.com/ecovillage/), which was presented to conferees at the East Coast Cohousing Conference in Newtown, Pennsylvania, November 20-22, 1998.
Courses taken include: Urban Analysis and Design Resolution, Sustainability: Form & Process, and Sustainable Tourism, as well as self-led acquisition and presentation of the use of Adobe PhotoShop 4 for Urban Design proposals. Course work produced was very well received by lecturers and held up as an example for other students.

WORK & LIFE EXPERIENCE
1997 - The York Environment Centre Trust
Was a member of the YECT steering group whose aim was to "promote, develop, and arrange funding for the creation of a Sustainable Environment Centre in the city of York". Remained actively involved throughout the brief history of the Trust, the accomplishments of which included identifying and negotiating a site for the Environment Centre, and submitting a successful bid for funding to the UK National Lotteries Charities Board. Awarded £288,000 (approximately $460,800 US), construction of the Centre began in July of 1998.
1995 - 1996
Realised the ambition of travelling around the world. Travelled extensively in the countries of India, Nepal, Thailand, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and America, as well as visiting Indonesia, Fiji and Hawai’i. Previous travels also include North Africa and most of Europe.

Self-employed Craftsman, Nether Farm Pottery, Cawood, Nr. Selby, North Yorkshire
Worked as a self-employed artist/craftsman, producing decorative, domestic and architectural ceramics, in Raku, Salt-glaze and Reduction Stoneware. Personally responsible for all aspects of the business, including formulation and maintenance of a working business plan, book-keeping and accounts, production and sales of ceramics, as well as sourcing of selling outlets and venues.

June 17th, 1998 - Urban Design Conference: People First
Conference held under the banner of the Urban Design Alliance and promoted as part of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s 1998 Yorkshire Conference Series. Focus on community participation in the process of design and redevelopment.
November 15th, 1997 - Leeds Urban Design Workshop: "Pride in the City"
Acted as student facilitator for a workshop group comprised of both students and practising professionals.
November 9th, 1996 - Leeds Urban Design Workshop
Prepared workshop materials for use in this interdisciplinary forum exploring design opportunities within the city of Leeds.
